Cricket Namibia is thrilled to announce Walvis Bay Salt, a long-standing cricket partner, as the naming sponsor of the U19 Men’s Cricket team, ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers in Tanzania.
Over the past ten years, the development of cricket in Namibia has been supported by Walvis Bay Salt, one of Africa’s largest solar sea salt producers.
Johan Muller, CEO of Cricket Namibia, said that the current u/19 team is extremely fortunate to have the support of a reputable Namibian company. Through their participation in Salt Week, the renowned Youth Week in Walvis Bay, for the past 10 years, Walvis Bay Salt has supported cricket in Namibia.
“Most of our current U-19 players began their playing careers and improved their cricketing skills during the annual Walvis Bay Salt Festival. We appreciate the support of Walvis Bay Salt as our u/19’s become our country’s representatives on the world stage!”
Muller believes the team can advance to the World Cup and wishes them luck in their African Qualifiers in Tanzania.
Walvis Bay Salt Managing Director, Andre Snyman says, “Not only is mineral beneficiation one of our key focus areas, but we are honoured to be involved in the development of young local talent. Walvis Bay Salt’s commitment as ‘namesponsor’ of the Namibian u/19 team over the next 2 years is fully aligned with our business strategy to become a fully integrated international salt exporting company.”
About Walvis Bay Salt: Over the years the company has consistently reinvested its profits in the business and in Namibia, and with annual raw salt production volumes exceeding 1 million tons, it is Walvis Bay Salt’s strategy to increase its exports to various markets internationally.
