Zhivago is a coach in the Highperformance program and sacrifices his time and effort to develop and train players who wish to join the team and expand the game of cricket in Namibia.
Zhivago’s journey as an all-rounder started at the age of 9. He believes that the game of Cricket in Namibia has the potential to develop better community and citizen life outcomes. His former coach, now Cricket Namibia Operations Manager John Heynes and the player’s father inspired his love for the game. He is to date encouraged to drive the best practice success factors of cricket such as social development and sustainability.
The Eagles are proud to maintain a role of social inclusion programs and to sustain the emerging provision of community-based cricket activities. Zhivago experiences his cricket journey since he joined the u/12 team until he reached the Eagles national team to be the best thing that could’ve ever happened to him. He further expresses how privileged he is to be part of an amazing team who adds to not only character building, but moral development, including the expression of values and sportsmanship behaviors. Similar to any sport participation, cricket offers opportunities for learning and development that can directly transfer into other areas of life such as school and work. Zhivago is a coach in the development program and has a strong influence on the upcoming youth cricket players’ attitudes and behaviors.
He is a true leader in cricket activities granting great opportunity to develop the youth’s moral values by teaching the appropriate mindset in situations that arise during games and practices. As a coach, he discusses these situations, teaches right and wrong behavior, and believes in good sportsmanship and fair play. However, the Eagles Namibia instill these important values such as respect and responsibility for the sport at all times and Zhivago relates to these elements. He adds that he is humbled to be part of the T20 World Cup Qualifier squad and not just to be part of the tournament but to disrupt the big nations.
The player voices his undeniable love for Chris Gayle and added that positive youth development in the cricket pipeline led to his growth as a professional sportsman.
