FNB Kwata Cricket hosted another FNB Kwata Fun Day in Walvis Bay. More than 270 Kwata Cricketers or Mini cricketers from various schools in Walvis Bay participated in the event.
Justus Hangula the Development officer for Cricket Namibia in Walvis Bay said that the development of cricket is increasing with more players selecting cricket as a sport over other sports codes. The FNB Kwata Fun Day was hosted in order to promote the game of cricket and provide an opportunity for players to play against other schools within their communities.
The players that participated in the FNB Fun day are players that are involved in the FNB Kwata Programme at their schools. Schools at the Coastal towns participate in the schools Inter Class competition. This is a school league whereby the different classes compete each other. The teams that won the Inter Class leagues were then invited to participate in the FNB Kwata Fun Day.
38 Young coaches (older cricket players) assisted with the playing of matches and the coaching for the day.
Cricket Namibia applauds the schools for their commitment towards sports development in Walvis Bay.
