Eagles Wrap up T20 Series vs Zim Emerging in Style

The Castle Lite Series undergoing at Wanderers Cricket Club between the Eagles and the Zimbabwean Emerging team has made Namibia proud as the Eagles outclassed an Emerging side of a full member cricket nation.

The tournament brought to you by Castle Lite and Dafabet commenced with three T20’s on the 14th – 16th August and three 50 Over games starting on the 18th – 22nd August. The Namibian Eagles outperformed the Zimbabwean Emerging team in the T20 games by 3-0. Zim Emerging won the toss in the first T20 game and chose to bat first of which the Eagles restricted them to 112/8 and beat them by 7 wickets. Zane Green opened the batting, showcased great innings and was named player of the match of which he scored 81 runs of 49 balls not out which included seven 4s and five 6s.

Eagles National Headcoach Pierre De Bruyn is pleased with the men’s performances in the T20 series that has now concluded. “We had a specific aim in the T20 competition, which was to focus on our game, specifically focus on individual roles, and give an opportunity to younger players in the squad. Yesterdays’s game was personally my favorite from the three T20 games.”

The last T20 game was rather an interesting game where the Eagles lost wickets earlier than usual in the innings and De Bruyn is happy that the players could still stand up for the team in those situations. “Zim Emerging put us under pressure and we had to battle it out in those situations and it came in form of Picky Ya France, Karl Birkenstock and Shaun Fouche that competed very well in their innings.”

THREE GAMES DONE AND DUSTED: This is all in preparation for the World Cup, the games are a platform for the coaching staff to complete the puzzle and make sure that the Eagles compete at The Big Dance. De Bruyn is looking forward to the 50 Over games which is a different format as the team is set to compete in the Cricket World League 2 starting in November. “We will be specific in how we are going to approach the 50 Over games to avoid falling into the trap of losing our intensity and the way we want to play white-ball cricket. We are looking forward to game time!
