Cricket Namibia hosted the Richelieu Franchise T20 finals on Sunday, 4th October at Trustco United where BA Blasting remained undefeated and won the Richelieu Franchise T20 series after a thrilling five-run victory against M&M Sign Strikers.
BA Blasting scored 200 for seven wickets off their 20 overs, while M&M Sign Strikers fell just short of the target, despite a brilliant century by Divan La Cock, who remained not out on 123.
Each team played 6 matches where BA Blasting was at the top of the log and immediately progressed to the final. M&M Sign and King Price Kings competed in the semi-final play-offs on Sunday morning, which led to M&M Signs winning the match and competed against BA Blasting for first place.
King Price Kings entered the tournament as defending champions after winning the T20 Franchise in 2017 and 2018. The Richelieu Franchise T20 tournament had two new team owners, M&M Signs and BA Blasting who put up an intensive cricket match battling for first place.
The Richelieu Franchise T20 narrowed the gap between club and national cricket and is now recognized as the highest level of club cricket played in Namibia. The tournament was made up of players from various teams; the Namibian national team, club teams, u19, u17 and u15 players.
Cricket Namibia is looking forward to hosting the second edition of the Richelieu Franchise T20 series next year, 27 & 28 March and 3rd and 4th April 2021.
