Cricket Namibia brings the Castle Lite series to a close with the wonderful memories created with the Karnataka Cricket State Association.
From June 2 through June 11, United Cricket Ground in Olympia hosted five 50 Over games between the Richlelieu Eagles and Karnataka.
Cricket Namibia hosted the Indian State team at two of Namibia’s beautiful towns, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. Quad biking on the sand dunes was a must-do activity for the team, and the management also enjoyed an exciting catamaran boat cruise along Namibia’s coast.
Namibia is renowned for its stunning sunsets, wildlife and landscapes, and we are happy to have given the Indian team a glimpse of Namibia’s splendor. The team enjoyed their trip to Naankuse, where they got to see some interesting wildlife, and they learned about wildlife conservation.
With our young Namibian athletes in the High Performance program and our women’s team, the seasoned Karnataka team gave some insights and conducted a coaching clinic on how they approach their cricket.
We saw some outstanding players who made it to the Richelieu Eagles squad, such as Gerhard Janse van Rensburg and Handre Klazinga. The Eagles’ goal is to grow their pool of players, so it is fantastic to see these players seize the chance and perform well. It is obvious that the Richelieu Eagles are strongly committed to expanding.
The series was won by Karnataka, and the Eagles came out on top twice. It was amazing to see the Eagles win the last game of the tour and to witness their perseverance. Jan Frylinck, who had a great series overall, taking five wickets while scoring 190 runs, and Gerhard Erasmus, who scored 182 runs, were some of the senior players who stood out.
The United Sports Ground had cricket supporters as the Eagles played for pride in the final game of the series, which resulted in victory.
