The festive season is behind us, and we’re excited to dive into 2025 with renewed energy and passion! This festive season was jam-packed with cricketing action, including nail-biting Test match finishes and worldwide T20 leagues. For the Cricket Namibia staff, this was also a time to kick back, relax and enjoy the game as spectators.
Now, the Cricket Namibia team is back in office, brimming with positivity and ready to build on the successes of the past year.
2024 was a phenomenal year for us, with accomplishments that truly made their mark. Three standouts include:
- The FNB Namibia Cricket Ground: The start of our stadium construction, setting the stage for an iconic venue to host world-class cricket.
- Federation of the Year Award: We were honoured at the Namibia Annual Sports Awards, a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
- ICC Scorecard Rankings: Our development program has grown on the ICC scorecard, from 18th in 2020 to a remarkable 5th in 2024—a clear reflection of our commitment to excellence.
Excellence is one of our core values, and it’s a principle we strive to embody both on and off the field. From administration to match day performances, we aim to set the standard high and continually raise the bar.

With the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground taking shape beautifully, we are gearing up for an exciting year ahead. The stadium will soon be buzzing with activity, starting with the Namibia Sports and Leadership Centre (NSLC) opening on January 20th. This innovative multi-sport initiative aims to support the country’s most promising young athletes, empowering them to excel in both their sports and academic pursuits.
Our gym will be fully operational from April onwards. This premier training space will offer an unparalleled fitness experience tailored to the needs of professional sportsmen and women. This will be a space where top-tier performance meets excellence, setting a new standard for athletic training in Namibia.
Indoor Cricket Nets have become a cornerstone of the modern cricketing world, and we are excited to bring these facilities to our stadium. Designed to cater to players of skill levels, these indoor nets provide a weatherproof environment for uninterrupted training and practice. The nets are expected to be operational from the end of March onwards.
This stadium is more than a cricket ground. Think wellness, professional sports facilities, education, dining, conferencing, and recreational entertainment—all in one place.
What’s Next?
This year, we’re coming out swinging with a packed calendar of cricketing action. We’re committed to hosting competitive international cricket on home soil, and Windhoek is set to be the stage for some exciting matches.
We are yet to host our official opening of the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground set to promise to be an unforgettable event, marked by exciting top-tier cricket action at our new stadium. This grand opening will be a celebration of the sport, the venue, and the passionate cricket community in Namibia.
