Senior Financial Manager Job Vacancy

Cricket Namibia is the custodian of all cricket structures and programs in Namibia. Cricket Namibia has the vacancy in the role of Senior Financial Manager and will open applications for qualified and suitable candidates to apply.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Cricket Namibia and will work closely with the CEO to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient financial management. The Senior Financial Manager will lead a team of financial professionals, provide financial analysis and reporting, and play a crucial role in budgeting, forecasting, and risk management for Cricket Namibia.

JOB SPECIFICATION
1) Develop and implement Cricket Namibia’s financial strategic vision, policies, and procedures to support overall goals and objectives of Cricket Namibia.
2) Financial Management and reporting.
3) High-level budgeting to align with strategic vision.
4) Oversee financial operations of the organization and the ability to create and implement effective and efficient structure.
5) Ability to utilize analytical skills to review financial data, assess performance and develop financial strategies.
6) Oversee Income Tax and VAT processes and workings.
7) Oversee Human Resource functions of the organization.
8) Oversee the payroll of the Cricket Namibia.
9) Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and financial regulations applicable to Cricket Namibia.
10) Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and analysis to the CEO and Board of Cricket Namibia.
11) Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators, highlighting areas of concern and suggesting corrective actions.
12) Manage financial relationships with external parties, including banks, auditors, and financial institutions.
13) Conduct regular financial risk assessments, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
14) Ensure the implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls and financial systems.
15) Manage and oversee audits, both internal and external, ensuring timely completion and adherence to audit requirements.
16) Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, including training, mentoring, and performance management.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The following qualifications are a minimum requirement but not limited for this position.

  • B. Com Accounting hons. or similar.
    The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting
    standards, and reporting requirements.
    At least 5 years’ experience in:
  • Financial Management.
  • Budgeting.
  • Alignment of company finances to strategy.
  • VAT.
  • Financial reporting for decision-making purposes.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The main areas of responsibility under the job specifications are classified below:
1) Implementation of Cricket Namibia’s financial strategic vision.
▪ Drive the financial aspects of the expansion strategy.
▪ Implement financial methods to align and integrate multiple entities into the same organisation.
2) Financial management, risk management and reporting.
▪ Accurate and timely reporting to management, Cricket Namibia Board and ICC.
▪ Identify, report and proactively manage financial risks.
3) High level budgeting to align with strategic vision.
▪ Proactive budgeting practices to include all existing programs, initiatives, and tournaments.
▪ Create budgets for different approaches relating to the new strategic vision of the organization.
4) Oversee financial operations of the organization and the ability to create and implement effective and efficient structure.
▪ Create and implement effective financial structures and processes within the financial department of the organisation.
▪ Improve the efficiency of the financial office to align with the continuous growth of the organization.
5) Ability to utilize analytical skills to review financial data, assess performance and develop financial strategies.
▪ Be able to interpret financial reports.
▪ Analise financial trends, data and performances of different sections within the organisation.
▪ Develop financial strategies and tools to assist with the implementation of financial solutions, based on the trends, data and performances.
6) Oversee Income Tax and VAT processes and workings.
▪ A clear understanding of international and national VAT regulations and implications.
▪ Create and align correct accounting processes to address VAT regulations.
▪ Ensure compliance and optimization of VAT regulations.

7) Oversee the Human Resource Function.

BASIC SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The basic skills and relevant experience required for the position:
• Leadership skills to steer the finance office.
• Designing and implementation of financial strategies.
• Critical thinking skills
• Prolific experience and speed with Excel and Pastel.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Sound knowledge of financial systems and software, and the ability to leverage technology for efficient financial management.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Understanding of the sports industry and its financial landscape is preferred.
