Cricket Namibia hosted it’s first ever T10 competition with a participation of ten teams in Windhoek and six coastal teams.
There has been a need for a shorter, and exciting format and we are proud to have established the T10 competition which would improve our ICC score card playing numbers.
New comers Shaeen Titans proved to be a formidable side dominating in the second division and winning the T10 competition against Green Mambas by seven wickets.
CCD Tigers 2 hosted Wanderers 2 at their home field of which did not go well for the Tigers as they lost by six wickets in a close game. Wanderers 2 fielded first and restricted CCD to a modest 74/4 in 10 overs . Gerhard Lotter from Wanderers led his team with 42* leading them to a 6 wickets victory.
The coastal T10 competition was between Sparta 2 and Pro-Ed Old Boys 2 which led Sparta winning the game by 8 wickets. Sparta elected to bowl and had to chase 96/3, the former Namibian player Gerrie Snyman took the game away from the Pro-Ed Old Boys and scored 62* which earned him player of the match title.
Cricket Namibia Operations Manager John Heynes is pleased with the outcome of the new T10 edition. “The competition was exciting for players and cricket supporters. This will be a permanent fixture going forward and we are hoping for more entries next year. Our goal is to spread the competition to more regions, specifically to include the northern towns in the 2022 / 2023 season to grow our game.”
