The time of the year every cricket stakeholder looks forward to has arrived. Cricket Namibia is pleased to host the Annual Cricket Awards on Friday, 27th November 2020 at Wanderers Cricket Field.
The event is only per invite due to COVID 19 regulations and the rest of the cricket followers can watch the live broadcast of the awards ceremony from the comfort of their homes on the Cricket Namibia Facebook page at 18h:00.
Although 2020 has been a difficult year for the cricket fraternity due to the global pandemic, we are still pleased to be able to host our annual awards and that the winners are judged according to their 2019/2020 stats and performances.
The Richelieu Franchise competition was a great, positive start of cricket after the pandemic and we are happy to include new categories in the awards, which among them is the Richelieu Franchise T20 Top Batsman, Richelieu Franchise T20 Top Bowler and the Richelieu Franchise T20 Winner.
Cricket Namibia launched a Veterans Cricket which solely accommodates cricket lovers that are 40 years and older to keep playing the game and represent Namibia at International level. Namibia participated as an Invitational Team in the Over 50 World Cup 2020 which was hosted in Cape Town and there were outstanding performances by our Cricket Legends. The veterans cricket has been a positive initiative since launched and we are pleased to include awards such as, Top Over 50 Batsman and the Top Over 50 Bowler that represented Namibia as an Invitational Side at the Over 50 World Cup in March 2020.
Introducing the game of cricket at grassroots level and growing our development programs is essential for us to grow the game of cricket in our country. Cricket Namibia’s journey of growing the game thus far has been great as we have now introduced cricket at more public schools. Another new category that will be part of the 2020 awards is School Coach of the Year 2019.
