An Awesome 100 By Craig Williams Leads The Eagles To First Win In Tri-Series

The Eagles toured to Oman for their first ODI tri-series for 2020 against the host and UAE. Namibia had a challenging game against UAE on 6 January of which they did not perform as expected. Today’s comeback showed the quality of the Eagles and hopefully be consistent in the upcoming games. Craig Willims put up a phenomenal performance and is by far the best innings of the tri-series.

Namibian entered their first ODI match against UAE with a below power performance. There was a good bowling performance by Bernard Scholtz, Jan Frylinck, JJ Smit and by the youngster Ben Shikongo of which he made his ODI debut. Captain Gerhard Erasmus 56* and Jan Frylinck 31* held the game together for the Eagles against UAE however, it was not enough for them to get over the line.

Namibia faced Oman today and once again proved that they bounce back even harder after losing in their first games. The Eagles won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to score a brilliant 324/7 with contribution from Zane Green 62(55) and notable contributions from the batting unit but the outstanding performance was by legend, Craig Williams 129(94) 13 fours and 6 sixes which earned him Player of the Match.

The Eagles bowling unit performed as expected with a great performance by JJ Smit 8-0-44-5. Jan-Izaks de Villiers made his ODI debut today against Oman. The opposition was restricted to 272/10 with good teamwork by the bowlers leading the Eagles to a victory.
