Cricket Namibia announced the launch of the Ashburton Kwata mini cricket on Wednesday, 2nd December 2020 at Auas Primary School with the aim to continue developing the game of cricket at grassroots level.
Kwata has been the leading developmental cricket program under the 92 Associate member countries for the last two years and we are pleased to have Ashburton Investments support the growth and development of our game.
Cricket Namibia CEO, Johan Muller is grateful for this wonderful partnership with Ashburton Investments to support a development program that will serve the country. “We are looking forward to see the impact that the program will have on the children in Namibia, we have a clear vision and action plan for 2021 on how we would like to grow and extend this program. Our aim is to reach 50 000 children this time, next year. We are pleased to have Ashburton Investments on board together with our schools, and that it is only with their support that we will be able to reach our aim.”

Kwata in beginning was only offered in Erongo region, we are happy to see that 11 years later, Kwata is now accessible to towns such as Kamanjab, Luderitz, Otjiwarongo, Gobabis, Okahandja, Rehoboth, Oshakati, Ongwediva, etc. The program has so far given access to the game of cricket to more than 100 000 youngsters and we are pleased to have contracted National players such as Ben Shikongo who is a product of the Kwata program. It is such a privilege for Ashburton Investments to be part of this exciting journey to make a significant contribution to the Namibian youth and the development of cricket in our country. “
