Women’s Senior team wants to qualify for the 2018 T20 Women’s World Cup. The African winners will join winners from other regions such as Europe, East Asia Pacific and the Americans to go through to the final qualifying tournament for the World Cup,and Namibia’s coach Christopher Coombe said they are very positive about their chances.
“We have what it takes to win the tournament and obviously I’m aiming for that, because we still don’t know if the top one or two teams will qualify. I think if the girls play as hard as they have trained the past two months, we can definitely win the tournament and our home ground advantage will help a lot,” he said.
The team believes that they can do it as they have been training for the past two months towards the fast approaching qualifying tournament. With having played warm up matches against strong South Aftrican teams the Namibian players and coaches have high hopes that they will place well in this tournament. The Namibian team is due to head Zimbabwe for more warm-up games in preparation of the upcoming tournament, “since Zimbabwe is a favourite seeing how Namibia performs against Zimbabwe would be vital” the coaches commented.
