2021 Youth Cricket Activation Plan

School and Youth cricket is an important developmental factor to continue with the growth for cricket in our country.

We believe cricket has a vital role to play in the education of young people, and we are happy with the way schools and parents have been proactive and positively involved with the sport and Cricket Namibia, we are looking forward to continuously strengthen our relationship with schools and improve our administration.

Purpose

Herewith a summary of information regarding the upcoming dates for all youth festivals/tournaments & school league for 2021.  All programs will adhere to COVID 19 regulations and are subject to change due to COVID 19 information as communicated from the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

It is our vision to implement a structure that allows more playing opportunities for all players. Focus areas for 2021 are:

  • The expansion of hard ball cricket under more schools through the National SIXES and to start hard ball cricket as from u/10.
  • To grow girl’s cricket through academies and girls-only festivals and tournaments.
  • The re-introducing the u/19 National Schools Tournament in August.
  • A new tournament in the August holiday for u/10’s and u/14 players.
  • The introduction of Court-cricket (played on tennis courts) in public schools especially in smaller towns.

FIRST TERM ACTIVITIES:

Junior Club Cricket:

U/11 & 13 Boys & Girls (Six-a- side)

Please contact local clubs to enter your child.           

Training camps:

Girls U/13, 16 & 19                                        

SECOND TERM ACTIVITIES:

Court Cricket:

Roll out in public schools in smaller towns.   

Incoming schools from SA:

Cricket Namibia are in contact with various schools and more detailed information will be communicated. Invitation teams and school teams will be privately contacted to play.

Cricket Namibia National u/19 School’s Week:  26 – 29 August 2021

Youth Festival: 30 & 31 August 2021

u/10 & u/14 Boys & Girl’s      

THIRD TERM ACTIVITIES:

U/19 Schools League:

  • North, Central & Coastal teams play out in their respective regions.            
  • Top teams of each Region compete in play-offs.       
  • u/19 School League Winner to be crowned.

Schools League: T20

u/10, 11, 13 & 15: (North, Central & Coastal teams play out in their respective Regions).

National APS SIXES:

Age groups:                 u/10, u/11, u/13, u/14 & u/16 Boys plus u/13 & U/16 Girls  

Regional Trials:           u/11, u/13, u/15 & u/17

The regional trials are for all players schooled in Namibia.

National Trials:           u/11, u/13, u/15 & u/17

Only players with a valid Namibian passport 

National Week : u/11, u/13, u/15 & u/17       

SA Tours:         National age groups touring South Africa.     

More detailed information on all festivals/tournaments will be communicated in due time.
