ICC –AFRICA HOSTS ITS SECOND ELITE ACADEMY FOR WOMEN
The ICC-Africa Regional Office is set to host its second Senior Woman’s Elite Academy
scheduled to take place from the 11th – 14th of February 2012 in Johannesburg South
Africa. The RDM–CEO of ACA-ICC commented that the first Academy was a huge success as the performances of the Ladies who attended it was evident at the recent T20 competition staged in Uganda 2011. The intake for the second Academy was based on the performances of the T20 in Tanzania. It has a mixture of youth and experience.
The Academy will motivate the girls and woman cricket within the continent and will also encourage the members to institute mass participation of woman cricket within their countries. These Ladies must become the ambassadors for women’s cricket in Africa. The aim of this Academy is enhance their cricketing skills as well as motivate and enhance Woman’s participation in cricket within Africa as this will then set a new foundation for Girls and Woman’s with regards to cricket development within the region.
“Lets help you to help them to be part of this great game” A total of 24 Woman from all over Africa will attend the Academy and will be undergoing extensive cricket coaching under the experience and expertise of Feizal Kimmie, the Senior Development officer for the ICC-Africa regional office. He will be accompanied by an assistant coach named Ephraim Nyawo of the Easterns Academy, Jolene Campher, an expert in Sport Vision & Wicket Keeping and Jody Martin, a level 3 coach and a Meta coach in Psychology.
The 4-day Elite academy will consist of the following aspects:-
Meta coaching (Psychology) session
Batting
Fielding
Bowling
Sports Vision
Fielding Techniques
Wicket Keeping
Session on mental aspects of cricket
Video Analysis
Match on the final day
The Elite academy for woman will be a vigorous test of cricket skills on all participants.
